There have been quite a lot of good action games on the PS2, but when it comes to fighting games Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja 4 takes the crown for sure. It’s a title that not only makes it easier to engage into a fun and unique combat system, but it also makes the gameplay a lot more refined and interesting to say the least.

The game takes its Naruto heritage and uses many of the characters from the series all while adding in a very refined, action packed gameplay filled with astounding attacks and a true focus on ninja attacks.

Has some balancing issues but still fun

Naruto fans rejoice! The manga may have finished but we can still dive back into the world of Naruto with this game. Sadly, it's also the last game in the Ultimate Ninja Storm series from developer CyberConnect2. So a bit of good news and some more bad news really but, the game is definitely worth playing. It keeps the classic core gameplay of the series which is great and has a huge roster of familiar faces from the Naruto series. One of the biggest differences is that battles are more like 3v3 with the ability to create a team of three characters who can be swapped mid-battle. However, all characters share the same life bar so you can't just let one or two of them die. While the fighting mechanics are great you do have to keep in mind one thing: this is not a balanced game. There's a huge character roster and balancing it all just doesn't work as a result. Despite this, each character does have nice controls and interesting abilities that keep the game fresh. It doesn't always help with the balance frustrations of course.
